Welcome to West Virginia United Methodist Men

We seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek daily his will.  Thus it is our mission to assist men to know Jesus Christ, so others can know Christ.
Our purpose is to make and engage men to be disciples of Jesus Christ and enable them to grow spiritually for the transformation of the world as given to us in the "The Great Commision."

The Great Commisson

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28: 16-20

Greetings from our President

We were honored and blessed by the presence of our resident bishop, Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball during the entire event of the United Methodist Men’s Annual Gathering at Jackson’s Mill; and, especially when she preached during the joint BSA and United Methodist Men worship service on Sunday morning. $1,059.19 was collected during the offering and dedicated to Imagine No Malaria campaign.  This year 680 Scouts and leaders attended Circuit Rider 25.  The United Methodist Men provided the Saturday evening meal for all attendees; serving and dining with the campers.   What a great event!

Our program for this annual gathering was conducted by David Murrow, Why Men Hate Going To Church.   Mr. Murrow covered the statistics of declining membership and related some of those problems to lack of men in churches.    The program dealt with the many problems concerning men not in church, including the language, the décor, and the culture.  While these are subtle things, they are important issues.  The church has sought to reach men by reaching women and this has not been effective.

The Map: The Way to All Great Men is the follow up book by David Murrow and addresses the hidden map in the Gospel of Matthew that all great men, including Christ himself, followed.  It is a fictional tale but contains an important key to awakening men.
